Title Research : Zombieland Title Sequence
As mentioned in the Avengers Title Research I intend on creating interactive titles. I was thinking about where i could draw inspiration from, then i saw the opening sequence for 'Zombieland' and its highlights the exact animations i want for my credits. Hopefully i can find a suitable program to create such titles.

Title Research:Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll Title Sequence
I looked at the Title Sequence of Sex,Drugs and Rock and Roll. However as of yet I dont have the initial opening sequence in a media format however when I do I shall update this post. The Opening shows a selection of scenes with the titles over the top, however the font is unreadable and looks messy. The actual name of the film is pretty much unreadable in terms of titles. I need to make sure that the font in my title sequence is easy to read and a good choice of colour.
Title Research: Coraline Title Sequence
I cant say as i really like the titles for 'Coraline' my initial impression was that the titles were rather quite boring and really quite amateur in comparison to the other titles sequences i've researched. Considering the film was made in 2008 the titles are dissapointng. Yes you could argue that they are in that style to match the genre/narrative but even at best these could of been improved alot.
Title Research: Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol Title Sequence
This is another technique of using the titles to portray aspects of the narrative. The camera follows the action whilst the titles are placed over the top of the action. The sequence is fast paced and creates the mood needed to keep the audience hooked. I think for my opening i need to really involve my credits as part of the sequence as it helps involve the audience.
Title Research: Avengers Title Sequence
I grant that these are in fact the end titles of the Avengers but i can still draw inspiration from them. The use of 3D objects implemented into the scene is very interesting. If i used this method i could emphasise props in the scene or actual key components to the narrative. The soundtrack is good factor to these it creates a relevant mood to the film.
Title Research: Spiderman Title Sequence
I think the Spiderman Title Sequence is rather impressive. The pace of the titles are rather quite quick however they allow enough time for the audience to read them. The spacing between the font is very spacial and takes up a subsequent amount of the screen. This is further highlighted through the animations, the actual animations create a good flow between each title which reiterate the action of the film itself.
The titles represent the narrative by having a web-like look, i think i should have this in my titles as it complies with the conventions of the film. I also intend to use the low key lighting that is used in the sequence.
Creative Discussions Prior to Pitch
My Initial Pitch is hopefully going to show my class members the actual foundations of my piece.
I want to get the point across that my 'Opening' will be a Spy Thriller. I think I need to emphasise this through some initial ideas.
I Created a Ideas Sheet in CorelDrawX5 to help me.

Considerations for titles.
What I need to consider when developing my titles
- Narrative, Technical and Graphic Techniques.
- Font
- Colour
- Animation
- Speed
- Positioning
- Challenge or Conform to convention of Genre
- Montage or Continuity
- Transitions
- Sound
- Situational ?
- Imagery
I need to make sure I consider all of these aspects to make my opening titles as successful as they can be. I think if i use all these factors my titles will be rather strong.

Description of the Main Task
The Main Task
For the main task i need to create an opening sequence that lasts around 2 minutes. The sequence itself should be a specific portrayal of the thriller genre. The piece will be marked on Camerawork, Editing, Sound and Mise en scene. Other aspects of the piece will be the work surrounding my final idea and the research and ideas that got me there. I need to highlight my views on the genre and how i can interpret this in my piece. Other factors to be looked at is the use of Actors, Props and Location. I intend to show my process through updates on this blog.
